Hong Kong by far. Turkey has too many Turks.

are you spanish? or from south america? for turkey it depends on the city. i guess the job is in istanbul. there are many europeans and americans living here. so you can make friends here quickly before meeting turkish ppl. i think first you need to compare the economies of the countries and whether they're strong in the sector you'll be working. in some sectors like pharmaceutical, ship construction, electrics engineering more people are getting hired. but some sectors are critical, like textile people are losing their jobs. and i know a foreigner who lost her job like this and went back to her country. are expenses and salaries the same? in istanbul 1500-2000 would be your total expense including housing for good standards. you should try hard for spending 1000 liras. after that, i dont know how it is here to a foreigner. they seem happy and stay longer but i cant make a comparison with hong kong, and far east. i think they're similar to us, with the traditional and modern life together. it's the best if a foreigner who lived here or there answers. i would try to find them on internet and ask them.

I would prefer Turkey, because I speak enough of my language Turkish to hold a conversation with someone who doesn't know it lol and just enough to be able to answer those who do :) .. Well, in your case first of all, I would have to look at the term of employment. Is it less than a year, will your employer be renewing your contract at the end of your term, what kind of benefits will you get... scale of the company and how am I going to benefit from this experience in the future...the list goes on and on...I would make a list of pros and cons for both countries and then decide..What kind of life are you hoping to live by moving either of these countries and which one is more appealing to you and to your life currently living. Surely, they are totally different from eachother. Have you ever visited these countries so how was your impression? I would look at the health care and how it is provided to foreigners. Of course sometimes numbers speak louder than words, then again if there is not much different in $$$$, you should move to a country you will be happier. You would certainly find people in either of these countries who speak English or expats who do but it would help you to live your daily life more pleasantly if you are willing to make some kind of commitments such as learning either Mandarin or Turkish depending on the country you live. I would take all these into consideration. Also, can you adopt yourself to a different environment? Don't get me wrong even when you move to a different city in the same country you still need time to make adjustments. For me, I like the Turkish hospitality, food, nature, history, variety of everything, most of all kind hearted people of Turkey. When you need help you get help, when you are sick any hospital would take you. Lots of fun things to do, even my phsyotherapist decided to live their retirment life in Turkey after visiting twice in a row, because they like the country and the people very much. Well, I can only speak from Turkish perspective, and if you have a - reasonable job offer - from Turkey, I'd say go for it.

Turkey has vaugly affordable real estate. Hong Kong not so much. Cheaper living standards make a huge difference.

If you will get the same salary, choose Turkey, things should be cheaper in Turkey for about the same or better quality. If you want to meet cultures of Far East, choose Hong Kong. If you want to meet people of the Turkish blend of Mediterranean/Roman culture, you know where to go. I guess Turkey is closer to your home country, that might turn out to be important. If you are British, it might be advantageous for you in Hong Kong, which was British until a decade ago, but I don't know for sure. This might also mean that Hong Kong is too similar to your home culture. I don't know again. From the pictures I have seen, I love the skyline of Hong Kong, but I would still prefer Istanbul. Turkish people are famous with their hospitality, but I'm sure Chinese people are quite nice people, as well. I got to know many Chinese people, one of my best friends is Chinese. So, both are good in many ways. Choose one, you won't probably regret. I hope you asked this question in Chinese/Hong Kong section, as well.

Dear Regina Are you serious? There is no dilemma in your case! Come to Turkey! I will take care you marry a good muslim Turk, you will wear the burqa and you won't have to work for making a living. While in Hong Kong you will have to work because it is a very developed country with english speaking population! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hong_Kong
