Turkish fiance-we r to marry here in the USA, and then go live in Turkey

Turkish fiance-we r to marry here in the USA, and then go live in Turkey?
Turkish fiance-we r to marry here in the USA, and then go live in Turkey?WE COULD marry in Turkey, but it is easier, we r told to do so here in the USA. He has a tourist visa, (known him for yrs), we decided to marry here, next year. I will then be moving to Turkey. (he has a great carreer there) and there is no intention of us ever living in the USA, ony to visit. Can we do this with no legal problem? I know we will have to get our marriage certificate translated into Turkish, but have no clue at the moment where we would go or send it to.. unless we can do it in Turkey OR here, at the Enbassy or consulate..I know so many have immigration problems moving to the USA, but that is not the case here, since I will be moving there..After we marry, next yr, what is the first thing I should do in Turkey, in regard to being and American who married in America, to a Turk? I put this in the immiration section, got no real answers, but one woman told me to post it here.. Lila, I can get my visa, as I arrive in Turkey. The place I will move to is Ankara(Emek). I wonder why I would want a Turkish passport?I believe I can keep my USA citizenship, and also have citizenship( after 3 or 4 yrs in Turkey, and knowing Turkish well). Going to the Embassy to registar there, to let American know where i am, and/or show them our marriage papers from the usa? Your answer was a bit too vague, but a little helpful, this is why I have not voted yet. O yeah, I will not be workingat all. Finally a lady of luxury! Does anyone know anything about a Turk getting married in America? Will it be a problem, when we go back to Turkey together, or no?

I have been married to a Turk, and living in Turkey for 13 years. We have 2 children. You will need to get a resident visa after you initial "tourist visa" has expired. The "rules" change all the time. So date (as far as I know) you should be able to get a 1-5 year resident visa. After you have been married atleast 3 years you can apply for a Turkish passport. It will not effect your American citizenship. You will need to get your marriage license translated. The first thing you should do is register at the US Embassey. Do you know what city you will be living in? Do you plan on working here? You can get things translated at the Noter office here. Ask at the police station where you will apply for your visa, they will be able to help you. Good luck.

Your biggest problem would be the language, peoples around you will be speaking in Turkish and probably the would void speaking in English in public because Turks are a little bit sensitive about that type of issues. Also you might find most Turkish people highly nationalist, I would suggest you to not to offend on those issues, you will get used to it in time, and if you read Turkish history probably you will be nationalist shortly :)) Good luck in you new life, you will love it!

Turkish Embassy's official web site you can ask all your question by calling or emailing them . http://www.e-konsolosluk.net/HomePage.aspx

bring your marriage certificate with you to Turkey and get it certified via the American consulate in Istanbul. and your marriage is automatically certified by the Turkish authorities.
