I might be sent to Turkey for a job of six months.I will have to bear expenses of living, food and transportation all by myself. I am not sure I am being sent to which city. But I would like to know how much would be sifficient for me to live a good life there and how much would it cost for an average furnished flat+bills+food+transport. Also tell me how much does it cost if I use local transport and how much does it cost if I opt taxis. I would really appreciate replies from my Turkish friends. And also if they can tell me in local currency(Liras) or in US dollars or british pounds. Conclusively, how much it would be suffiicient for me to live good life there+some good fun per month?

The thing is, the exchange rate for currency is your issue. What do you pay today, here, for a loaf of bread? I suspect it will be mostly the same whereever you go, in whatever the currency IS whereever you ARE at that point in time. Money is mostly fixed to whatever the market will bear, with whatever the cost IS being related to the cost of production of whatever you are buying. So, in essence, a loaf of bread costs something here, and it costs something there and the exchange rate for currency equates the two costs.

Generally living in Turkey is much cheaper than other countries. It does all depend on which city you move to, your circumstances and your living style In the city I live in, the monthly rent for a flat is around 600 lira (roughly 350 euro) Water is cheap, expect to pay around 20 lira (10 euros) per month. They deliver 19 litre bottles to your house which costs around 3.5 lira. You cannot drink tap water, so you have to use bottled water for most things. Food is not that expensive, and eating out can be great value. If you avoid Tourist restaurants and 'go Turkish' you can have a meal and drinks for as little as 15 lira (7.5 euro) Efes beer can cost as little as 3 lira (1.70 euro) and even less in the supermarket. Transport is probably the best thing about Turkey. Dolmus, (which is a collective taxi) is the most commonly used form of transportation. The coaches in Turkey are excellent. I travel 1.5 hours to another city and it costs 6 lira (3 euros) this includes water and refreshments during the journey. Where I come from back home it costs the same to go 10 minutes on a smelly bus. The Turkish people are the most friendly, welcoming, warm people you could wish to meet they will help you make your move much easier. Living in Turkey is a great experience, I'm sure you will enjoy it.
