The Kurds were for centuries nomadic people. They have no country of their own, and are militant toward the countries that allow them to live in those countries. They are muslim (or however you spell it, who cares) and have the typical war-like attributes of those folks. Same sad song, just a different bunch of singers. None of them seem to have the sense to just quietly live and work for their bread.

It's just like the Israelis and Palestinians, or Indians and Pakistanis: Cousins that hate eachother. The Kurds used to have their own country, Kurdistan, but it was partitioned after WW1 and absorbed by Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Turkey--all opposed to an independent Kurdistan for their own selfish reasons. Actually, there is no difference between Turks and Kurds living in Turkey. Latest #s were about 20-30% of Turkish polulation is considered Kurdish descent less Kurdish speaking, versus Turkish just means, does not talk Kurdish for the most part. As Turks have invaded Anatolia, they have mixed completely with Greeks and whomever that lived in the area. If you look at someone that is from Turkmenistan, Krgystan and other Turkik countries, you will see that Turks do not look anything like them. In either case, for what you are after, may it be some political or just plain personal question. The people that you hear die in eastern Turkey due to Millitary action are PKK militants, PKK is a declared terorist group by USA, as well as all European countries, you can just visit the state department or home land security pages if you want to check it out for your self. These people cost over 30K deaths in Turkey, they keep blowing innocent people up, trying to stop life. So the Military (consisting of both Turkish decent and Kurdish decent people) hunts them down and tries to fix the problem. Once the terorist give up their guns, there shall be no more deaths, it is very easy. And on top of that, they are just stupidly causing the deaths of Turkish people, as Turkey and, Turkish people as a whole (Turk, Kurd, Laz, Cerkez, Greek, Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Budhist and all the other), will never take a part of its land and give it to any country without a major fight, it never has, and it never will, that is that easy. PKK or any other power at that, will have to destroy the last living Turkish citizen, and history has shown, even organized countries with organized Millitary was not able to achieve that...
