I had the same situation 15 years ago. I did a course to become a teacher of English as a foreign language. I've been employed (in Turkey) ever since. If you think you might enjoy teaching, I recommend the CELTA course which is widely available It is quite expensive and very intensive (reduced me to tears on more than one occasion) but will then give you a passport (as it were) to work almost anywhere in the world. For me the best thing about TEFL teaching is that you don't have to teach kids. Teaching adults is totally different and (for me) much more enjoyable. If you are interested look here: http://www.cambridgeesol.org/exams/teaching-awards/celta.html or do a google search for TEFL or CELTA. I also tried (and loved) working on a gulet with tourists but that is only seasonal. If you really want to live in Turkey teaching is the easiest path. There are rules that dictate that foreigners cannot take jobs that Turks can do. If you have a recognised skill (and speak Turkish) you may be able to find work in other fields but it is hard. I know foreigners that work in both the tobacco and textile industry here but they are in a minority. If you want to live in a resort area you may find work in an emlak (estate agent's) office, selling properties to other foreigners but the market isn't good at the moment and the pay is usually linked to sales so... Good luck!

if you know Turkish intermediate level, then you can find jobs in most companies. but if your Turkish is not that well, be an English teacher in a private school.
