I know it is the right kind of climate where I live, for date trees. I lived in Turkey and Lebanon and they had date trees on a regular basis. So what's the name please, I need to know to ask the nursery.

There are lots of Palmera datilera Plantations along the border in southern AZ and CA. So you should be able to find one really easy. In Sonora they grow along the roads out in the country. The Spanish term is Palmera Datilera, Or in English Palm Dates.

I believe it would be "arbol de la fecha". A fig tree would be "arbol de higo". I hope this works for you.

The palm that produces dates is Phoenix dactilifera. There is also the pygmy date palm (P. roebellenii), and I do not know if it produces dates as large or good as P. dactilifera. Below are links to info on the date palm and how to grow it.
