What do I need to go to live in Turkey for 6 months??? Do I get a visa at the airport and how long before I go? Or do I have to apply somehow? (I am Canadian). Also, do I need any kind of immunizations? I already have Hep. A... Do I need malaria pills? 6 months of malaria pills is a long time? Thanks I also plan to visit Iran from Turkey... would I need anything to go there?

I lived in Turkey for 3 years and never needed any malaria pills

While a Canadian passport holder can get a tourist visa valid for up to 3 months at the border you have to get a residency permit to stay in Turkey for 6 months. Contact the Turkish embassy in Ottawa about getting a visa in advance. A booster for Polio and Tetanus is highly recommended. Malaria pills are not necessary, but if you are in the South and South Eastern Provinces in the wet areas along rivers and lakes it is a very good idea to bring anti-mozzie clothing and anti-mozzie nets.
